Our Experience

Our journey from Corfu to Sarandë was met with excitement as we looked forward to exploring this lesser-known tourist haven in Albania. Despite initial reservations, Sarandë quickly won us over with its affordable accommodations, delicious cuisine, and breathtaking sights.

Upon arriving at the port, we were greeted by enthusiastic taxi drivers, but we opted for a licensed taxi to take us to our apartment. The infinity pool and mesmerizing sea view instantly captivated us, and we wasted no time diving into the refreshing water.

The locals’ hospitality was heartwarming, and we soon made friends with some adorable cats who graced us with their trust. We watched a stunning sunset and later indulged in a delightful meal at a local fish restaurant, enjoying traditional Albanian dishes and Mediterranean delights accompanied by reasonably priced wine.

The next day, we embarked on a trip to the Blue Eye, a natural marvel featuring a lagoon with an alluring blue center. The hike was challenging, but the sight of people swimming in the cold lagoon was too tempting to resist. After cooling off, we savored fresh salads and local beer at a charming wooden restaurant.

Our adventure continued to the Castle atop the hill, offering panoramic views of Sarandë’s coast during the captivating sunset. We relished a veggie pizza and chocolate mousse while enjoying live music and witnessing the locals’ vibrant dancing.

We couldn’t miss the opportunity to visit Ksamil islands, renowned for their pristine beaches and turquoise waters. Although the beach was slightly crowded with sun loungers and parasols, we managed to find our spot to swim and explore the islets on a pedalo, reveling in the natural beauty that reminded us of Greece.

In addition to its picturesque landscapes, Sarandë impressed us with modern amenities, including the convenience of flushing toilet paper in the toilets. These little things made our trip more comfortable and memorable.

Our experience in Sarandë exceeded expectations, proving it to be an ideal destination for travelers seeking a blend of stunning coastlines, mouthwatering cuisine, and warm hospitality. Albania’s best-kept secret is a treasure waiting to be explored, and we can’t wait to return for more unforgettable moments.
